Definition

A song is a composition of lyrics, short poem that is set to music and meant to be sung.

Communicative Purpose

To entertain the listeners and also as media to express feelings. Songs also teach the listeners moral values that are hidden in the lyrics.

Text Organization

·        Verse is the main part of a song that tells a story

·       Refrain/Chorus is a part of song that is repeated. The rhythm of this part is distinct from the verse.

·      Coda is a line that closes a song

Usually a song has typical song structure as shown below :

Intro-verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-chorus

Language Features

·         Image are used to describe feelings and emotions

·         Rhythm is used to create the mood of the song

·         Experiences told sometimes use figures of speech

Song has divide into two type :

·         Original song is the first version of the song or the original recording of the song. The original       songs are sung the way the composers wanted the song to be.

·         Cover song is a new performance or recording of a song that has been previously recorded, done      by another person or another artist.
